Using sex workers to address mental health issues places an unfair burden on an already struggling and marginalized population of people. Regardless of whether having sex can help lonely clients to address their intimacy issues, sex workers are not generally trained therapists and cannot be expected to provide that sort of care.

Poor with Rich Clients: Survival Sex Work and Wealth Disparity
The juxtaposition between being hungry and unsure where you’ll sleep that night and spending an evening in a lavish hotel room with room service is an extreme one. Finding sugar daddies, when I first began selling sex, caused me to experience that first-hand…
What is Survival Sex Work?
A phrase you will see used by some sex worker advocacy organisations is the term “survival sex work”. Typically, this refers to people selling sex in precarious circumstances to meet their basic survival needs on a direct basis. Whilst people who are using prostitution as their sole income are obviously paying for their needs withContinue reading “What is Survival Sex Work?”
You Look Like My…
You might have heard a story before about a client seeing a sex worker after his wife has died who looks similar to her, and I’ve seen those kinds of situations played up as heart-warming and sweet. I have had a couple of clients who’ve told me I look like a partner they lost, mostly early in my time selling sex, but most of the people I’m told I look like aren’t quite so charming…
How the Online Safety Bill Will Harm Sex Workers
As is typical with legislation that targets sex workers, the name of the Online Safety Bill is misleading and intends to make the average member of the public believe that its purpose is to protect people. For manyContinue reading “Why “Feminist” Anti-Trans Advocates Also Hate Sex Workers”

The few resources that make an effort to be inclusive will have you as an afterthought and only minimal amounts of advice willContinue reading “Transmasculine Guide to Sex Work”
Advertising Prostitution Online
Being able to advertise the sale of sex online is absolutely vital for sex workers’ safety. It allows us to sell sex independently without relying on managers with access to networks of clients, and to avoid having to work in managed brothels or to sell sex on streets known for prostitution. Something that is commonlyContinue reading “Advertising Prostitution Online”
You’re Not Technically Trapped!
I think it’s natural that when presented with talk about sexual abuse and coercion that we automatically picture something brutal and clear-cut. Most of us are exposed to media which depicts rape as involving violent physical force fairly frequently, and when we hear about it related to sex work it’s often with stories of pimpsContinue reading “You’re Not Technically Trapped!”
